Emotions smotions… Ahhh!!
Have you ever heard the expression “engage your emotions to achieve what you want”?
I can’t remember how many times I’ve heard that exact expression. Just about every mentor I’ve had has said it, expressed it, or implied it, at one time or another.
I remember thinking, ok, I get it, I need to feel really strongly about what I want, so I can activate the “law of attraction” or so the universe knows how dedicated I am to achieving it!
But it never really sunk it. I never really got it. I kept coming up with the same question…
How the hell do I do it?!!!
The other night I was reading “The Fire Starter Sessions” by Danielle La Porte, and I finally had that Ah ha moment, like the heavens opened up, and I was talking directly to source energy…
We set goals and make decisions to feel a certain way! LIGHTBULB!
OMG, it finally landed. Yes, I want to FEEL a certain way. It’s not achievement for the sake of achievement, I want to feel a certain way when I achieve my dreams.

Wouldn’t it make sense if you made your decisions and set your goals based on the feelings you want to feel?
Have a think about it…
What was the last thing you wanted to do, or last goal you wanted to achieve? At the core of that dream there was a feeling you wanted to feel? Whether it was fun, powerful, playful, or affluent, there was a specific feeling fueling your ambition.
There’ve been many mentors of mine, who’ve suggested at one time or another, that to detach from your feelings, helps you feel more peaceful and less reactive.
So you can imagine my confusion, connect to your emotions to attract what you want, but detach, to be at peace and less reactive. WHAT!
Being half water, I found the concept of ‘feelings detachment’ completely against the fabric of what makes me, well me. There’s always so many emotions and feelings running through my body all the time, and you know what? I like that about me.
As humans, emotions are a part of our design. They help you connect with other people. I feel way more connected when someone explains how they’re feeling about something, rather than what they’re doing or what they’ve achieved.
There’s an instant connection. I’m able to relate to the feeling they expressed, and connect to them on a deeper level.

When you cash the check, accept the award, finish your masterpiece, make the sale, or fall in love? … How do you want to feel?

So from this moment on, I encourage you to connect to the feelings you want to feel today. Honour them, and be ok with whatever comes up. Don’t be ashamed of the feelings you want. They’re your feelings, your core desires. You have the right to feel exactly how you want.
Allow space for them ALL (light and dark) and express them with as much grace and kindness as you can. They show up when you need them. They show up as a sign of learning and growth.
A little message on sadness. I feel sad regularly. Its apart of who I am. I think you know me well enough to know, how enthusiastic and overexcited I get, especially when I’m seeing the gold in others, but sadness comes to me regularly too. And I honour it. I cry often and allow my feelings to renew my spirit.
So now, think about your goals and aspirations. Try to uncover what feeling you’re trying to create from them. Choose some words that represent how you want to feel.
Last week I wanted to feel magical, sensual and connected. With these feelings as my core desires, I was able to draw to me situations where these feelings could be realised.
It was like magic, and really fun!
